License, updates and support
Last updated: October 18, 2026. The short, plain version. The full license is the LICENSE.md file in every download; if anything here differs, that file wins. See also the Terms of Sale and refund policy.
License
Each product comes with the BotDrop Commercial License. It is a license to use the software, not a transfer of ownership: BotDrop keeps the copyright.
- You may: run it, modify it and rebrand it (your bot’s name and avatar, no BotDrop branding) for your own servers and communities, and for unlimited personal and commercial projects, including client projects and bots you run for others.
- You may not: resell, sublicense or redistribute the source code, original or modified, as a template, kit or competing product, or share it publicly (keep your GitHub copy private).
- Rebranding doesn’t give you the right to use the BotDrop name or logo. Open-source libraries inside keep their own licenses (see
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md).
Updates
Updates to the product you bought are free. When we release a new version, it replaces the old file on Gumroad: re-download it from your Gumroad library with the same purchase. Every change is listed in the changelog, and the new files’ checksums are on the checksums page. Updates cover fixes and improvements to that product; new, separate products are sold separately.
Support
Email hello@getbotdrop.com with the product name, what you did and what happened (a copy of the error or the launcher log helps). Support is best-effort from a small team; we typically reply within 2 business days.
- Covered: getting the product running as described (launcher, README and our deploy guide), bugs in our code, and questions about settings and the license.
- Not covered: writing custom features or changing your modified code (ask us about custom work), problems with your host, PC or network, and changes on Discord, Steam or other platforms outside our control (we fix those in updates when we can).
Steam features
Some Steam features use public but undocumented Steam store endpoints and page data, not the official Steam Web API. Valve can change or limit them at any time, which can stop those features working until we release an update. Keep polling intervals reasonable; you are responsible for following Steam’s terms.
Refunds
30-day refund if the template doesn’t work for you. Request it through Gumroad. Refund policy.
